NTL Match - Coyotes vs Bucks Margaritas
Date: Saturday 25 August 2007
Time: 1250hrs
Venue: Turf City
NTL Round 1Match 2
Result: 8-0 in Coyotes' favor
Referee: Ann Goh and some caucasian uncle
MVP : Ekhoo
Team Player: Chua
Play maker : Eda
After 2 weeks of rest from the games, we were more than sufficiently prepared and nonetheless eager to meet our opponents this week. We started off on a good note albeit not having enough time for a full warm up and kept ball possession in the opponent's half for 2 if not more turnovers in the first half of the game.
This time round we were less afraid in the face of our defenders and even if we were, i supposed we kept our fears at bay. Slowly but surely we did read the opponent's play and made use of their erm, relatively slow defence set up to do a couple of dummy breakthroughs which Eda did a great job at it and so did Khoo, who had her record of 4 assists, beautiful ones. Not forgetting the supportive team players we had/have, Yasmin scored her virgin try of the season with an assist from Eda. Way to go girls.( Well done for all the 8 tries but i can't recall all to list them down hee)
Penalties on us were also kept to a minimum which was probably because of the initial warning from the referee against phantom touches, and not only did we not commit that, there was no other penalties in the likes of un- square dumps.
Although we had a relatively good game this week, complacency will certainly not do us any good and there are a couple of things we still have to work on which instinctively are effective communication with each other regardless of defence or otherwise. Defence is certainly getting better but we still have to keep in mind in keeping the line as well as to avoid the tendency to shoot up on defence. Also, we have to take note of our reaction and decision making on the field which ball carriers should be proactive in, otherwise, supporters please do make yourself heard of your availability to the ball carrier as well.
All in all, a good game by SRCoyotes,
cheers to a better game this coming Saturday. (:

Vs Margaritas (12.50pm)
Girls finally a game after how many weeks? bleagh. i duno maybe it's a blessing in disguise. :) i am proud of the the improvements we have made so far. Thank you very much to those who managed to commit to the goals we all have set during camps. and i appreciate very much your attendance at every session. I hope that you will be able to fulfil your objectives by the end of NTL. I will be there at every step of the way to help in any way i can.
But do me a favour dun lose hope. if you are. haf faith. Being in a team it is alot about struggles and pain. Why go through all that when you can do without? If u ask me, I like it cos i noe at the end of the day the sweet victory is worth all the struggles. And i would give my left arm just to get to that moment again. and victory comes in many forms. not only the obvious one. You know what i mean.
So kick ass ladies. carpe diem, the sky's the limit and it is all yours. It's time to take charge and do something with the challenge that's beckoning before you. I dare you. :)
Players are being chosen based on performance during training and also your attendance would play a part in my decision. Those under pending you have to talk to me before warm ups. Nothing serious dun worry. I just need to discuss a few things before you play. Those who are not chosen to play in any week are still required to attend. please understand that you are not only required to play for this team, you are also required to learn how to support your teammates. It's all part and parcel of being a team player.Congrats to those who made it and good luck.

post mortem.
I decided to do a post mortem on our weekly trainings cos apparently not all of us are down for training (which i am presumably disappointed. but like i always say what u give is what u get at the end o the day. you guys gotta start taking ownership of ur individual responsiblities. so if your absence results in the team's loss than i hope u will feel really bad about it.) So maybe this could help everyone keep up to date on what is going on.
Monday
Poison Ball.
Aim: To strengthen our communication and passing by introducing a non-intimidating environment to encourage free play and fun.
Found out that every one visibly has their own mind when they were trying to tag a player out. (relating back to our game, we each have our own mind which caused us all to not perform as a team.) resulting in communication breakdown and drop balls. Trick of the game is for all in a team to have one mind and one target. to take out one player at a time. Second round worked out better cos of better communication and clearer objectives.
4 on 3 game play
objectives: Applying what we have learnt from poison ball, more communication n having one play at a time. the drill starts with a ruck with a 1 or 2 followed by a drag and utilising the gap that was created to score.
Problems: Players not communicating whether they are taking the dump or indicating to the runners whether they were in a good position to recieve the ball and score. Players are also not dumping and getting out quickly rather they stay and distrupt the game flow. we also realised that there were no playmakers in the team. which means everyone are forced to be a playmaker and this time and everyone has to start having ownership of the ball and the play.
Wednesday
aim: instinct, communication and smart reaction.
Monkey
aim is to visualise the best decision to offload the ball. it should be instinctive and spontaneous. also involves alot of talking. started off rather slow with everyone just standing around and expecting something to happen. slowly along the way the game picked up and people are starting to take ownership of creating during the game. in the end, better decision and smarter reaction.
5v4 *concentrating on 1 or 2 rucks followed by a drag and a score
met the objectives at the end of it. Most of the players are beginning to take ownership of the game instead of depending on each other to create. Players are beginning to make better decisions. reactions are getting better however players tend to get distracted easily by excitement or disappointment thus resulting in poor flow. (ie drop balls).
The team still need to work on recieving the ball on the run. alot of players are still standing flat and only deciding to run when they haf the ball. some players also still tend to play their own game instead of listening to the team's call. resulting in wat i now will term as pingpong. (Back and forth play)
Saturday. Follow the flow we have been having during training. i think our chemistry and confidence is taking a slow walk up to getting better. keep in mind individual things that i have mentioned to each of you to improve. and hopefully we'll get our shit together by this game against margaritas. there were flashes of brilliances during this week's training. All i need from the coyotes are for ALL of you to bring your game this sat.
Remember girls play hard. have fun. after game we chill and have lunch together. Lets shrek it out.
Just a reminder. I somehow feel that the same group of people find it difficult to just listen when someone's addressing the team. I as a matter of fact have been involved in that disrespectful position. i understand that u haf things to talk about. but im sure u can talk about those things after training. considering that I only get to talk to you for 2 hours, I'm sure u guys will be allow me to haf that time to 'socialise' with you guys. and this does not only apply to me but also to anybody in the team who is addressing the team. it's basic courtesy girls. please take pride in that. and im sure when its ur turn to talk we'll be respectful too.
secondly, I was disappointed to see not all of you were jogging back as a team after wednesday's training and warm downs was dragged cos of a couple of jokers who have decided to take their own sweet time to start warming down. again, respectfully guys training would end on time if we all would simply just do things quickly. like coming in and stretch after every session. instead of drinking or talking amongst ourselves. its pretty apparent that we are starting to get back to our old habits. SO lets just be aware of all this and improve on it. I hope this is the last time i see the disappointing side of coyotes.
there's a line between work and play. we work hard and play hard. but there's always time to work and time to play. i hope you guys know when it is cool to cross the line and when it is not. We are all adults here and i respectfully will treat everyone as an adult until otherwise proven that u guys dun deserve to be treated like one.
Respect each other guys, then people will start respecting you.
cheers

NTL Match - Coyotes vs Bedok Kings
Date: Saturday 4 August 2007
Time: 1200hrs
Venue: Turf City
Weather: Hot with semi-soft ground conditions
Referee: 'nice' yellow shirt ref
NTL Round 1
Match 1Result: Lost 3 - 0
MVP : Qiaoying
Team player : Lels
Play maker : Eda
The match started off with us kicking off. The presence of two or more "she who shall not b named players" caused a little bit of apprehension in the coyotes' play. Punch up were fine but not done at full pace thus there was many drop balls, we barely met the other half in the 1st half. However Bedok also barely made it to our try line area as our defence was staying firm till our heavy legs din shuffle fast enuff and allowed bedOk to make their virgin score on our wing. Penalties were called against us for several off sides, off-the-mark dumps and silly mistakes. Second try came in as shuffling were slow again and ifa missed her man by millimetres and were painfully honest to the ref for the no-touch thus baggin bedok's second try which the player thanked ifa for.
Second half, we were still nt up to expectations. Only a few coyotes were trying to create something. However, owing to our lack of composure and first time experience for some, we couldn't fully utilize the potential of our moves to get in a score. Many a times, we could run through a gap bt yet we did not as we were only concentrating on finishing the moves. Our play maker of the game managed to break through bedoks defence once but sadly, ther wasnt ani support thus she was touched after a short distance.
Penalties were lesser though bt its still best nt to hav at all. The third try came in when they caught us off-side on our try line n they returned the favour by scoring on us.
Conclusion: we figured out the areas to further work on from this game and has decided to work on them during monday training.
1) Minimal penalties
2) Stronger defence
3) Faster punch up
4) Efficient constant communication
havin better composure wld lead to the above pts.
Although with a brand new team of coyotes, the mistakes we committed in STL are still being committed in our first game of ntl. However, as Confucius said "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall". So, we will rise up like the phoenix did in Harry Potter for our future games.

ntl two-o-o-seven
A good rugby game can have us all on the edge of our seats.
Games are all about the glory, pain and the play-by-play.
And then there are the more solitary games.
The games we each play all by ourselves.
The social games, the mind games, we use them to pass the time to make life more interesting. To distract us from what’s really going on.
There are those of us that love to play games.
Any game. And there are those of us who love to play… a little too much.
Life is not a spectator sport. Win, lose or draw, the game is in progress.
Whether we want it to be or not.
So go ahead. Argue with the refs. Change the rules.
Cheat a little. Take a break. And tend to your wounds.
But play.
play …
Play hard. Play fast. Play loose and free.
Play as if there is no tomorrow.
Okay, so it’s not whether you win or lose. It’s how you play the game. Right?
heh got the above from one of the many epis of grey's anatomy(tho i edited a small bit). i like the words so thought i'd share it with you guys. i'm sure most of us, if not all, can relate to it.
soo yes, the league is starting soons. i'm not asking for much i just would like to see all of us play as a team, as one :) and play hard.
i hope for nothing but the best for us, coyotes :D
love,
bubu
ps: and here's wishing the best of luck to our fellow barras and sixpacks too :D may the weather, field and lovely refs be nice to us hah.
